Hambone in his Element
Hambone’s Greeting Cards are individually hand-crafted with your choice of any photograph in our store OR, you can provide your own photo to be featured on the card.
All photos were taken by Eric Lillard, also known as Hambone, in his journeys throughout the world. His purpose was to capture a meaningful moment, inspiration, or scene to invoke pleasure and joy upon reflection. Wherever Hambone has traveled, his camera was usually along for the trip.
The connection between Eric’s photography and greetings cards came after the death of his mother Shirley and as his grandchildren became of age to appreciate getting a hand written note in the mail. These two events were happening in close proximity to each other.
As his mother was in her last phase of life, Shirley often spoke about how wonderful it was to get a random card or letter from family and friends and how it truly brightened up her day. She never threw a card away, ever. I'm still reading through them now after her passing. It was uplifting for her to receive a personal note in the mail; it had a powerful and magical healing effect. She spoke about those moments right up to the end of her life. It made her feel remembered and special in a genuine way.
Eric now has four precious grandchildren, and like many of you, they are spread out across the country, making it difficult to see them as frequently as desired. Hambone’s Greeting Cards was birthed through his commitment to stay better connected with his grandchildren, despite the geographical separation. He wanted to share notes with his family and friends by combining them with visual captures through the lens of his camera.
Eric has combed through thousands of his photos taken over the years and carefully selected a portfolio of his work that is now shared for you to “connect” with others in your life. Hambone’s Greeting Cards also offers you to use your own photo as well. Just click on the “Use My Photo” button, and we will hand craft your card(s) using the photo(s) you provide. All photos will be cropped to 4” by 6” in order to fit the greeting card.
